Back-End Developer (Senior)

About the role

Architect and lead the back-end infrastructure of Skaly's growing SaaS platform. You will mentor junior developers, own system design decisions, and ensure our platform scales reliably to thousands of clients.

What you will do

• Own the architecture and design of Skaly's back-end systems and APIs
• Lead technical decisions on database design, service architecture, and scalability
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews and pair programming
• Establish and enforce coding standards, testing strategies, and deployment practices
• Design multi-tenant data isolation and permission systems
• Lead integration with complex third-party services and payment systems
• Drive database performance optimization and query tuning
• Participate in product planning to ensure technical feasibility

What we are looking for

• 4+ years of professional back-end development experience
• Deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript
• Strong PostgreSQL skills (complex queries, indexing, schema design)
• Experience with serverless or edge computing platforms
• Track record of architecting scalable SaaS systems
• Strong understanding of security best practices

Nice to have

• Experience with Prisma ORM, Neon, or PlanetScale
• Knowledge of queue systems (BullMQ, Redis)
• Familiarity with observability tools (Sentry, Datadog)
• Prior CTO or tech lead experience at a startup
